Ducks

Lena and 'Roasted'
Lena and ‘Roasted’

New family members again! The poultry village in the backyard just seems to keep on growing… The sudden appearance of the ducks certainly has nothing to do with the Les Hérolles market we went to this morning… Actually we came back six birds heavier, though we went with only the possibility of two ducklings in mind. But they were all so cute, and we couldn’t decide on the race… and we’re liberal type folk, so why not both? And we threw in two more chickens for good measure to bring the chook flock to a sturdy twenty even.

The two yellow Pekin ducklings waddle around together and make such a deliciously cute pair, we called them Sweet and Sour. The brown Rouennais felt left out, so we’ve named them Knusprig (Crunchy) and Roasted.

And just because, here’s a nice sample mix of cuteness. I apologize for the heavy-handed iMovie edit, but I blame it on the excess of Daft Fluff circulating on the airwaves these days…

You would think that with those big feet they’d be able to balance better. I shrieked with laughter.

Yeah! The last part of the clip I had to edit out because it was so shaky I was laughing so hard when that happened. They’re pretty shaky on their feet actually, but getting better as they grow up! I guess they are just made for water… we’re working on a proper pond!

  2. Ho c est trop mignon !!!! Il faut que tu leur fasses un petit étang ?! Bisous

  3. I love them….but that little pond isn't going to last for long….more innovated ideas!
