Zephyrs Baseball

20100818 10412 300x199 Zephyrs BaseballBaseball is one of the sports, that is typically American. (In addition to football, of course),. However, I always found football terribly stupid and dumb: A bunch of great guys, they clash against each other in their armor, making funny noises. Baseball, meanwhile, had at least raised the level of my fascination, the one sport in general that can be interesting. Sport was simply never my thing to begin with. But for some reason I always found far more aesthetic Baseball than Football. As matter of neccessity, I had to bring Jason as a true American on my true-America trip to a baseball game. The French were of course, totally exited to see it, however, every American, we told that we would finally see as Europeans our first baseball game, just shook thier head sympathetically. But this was probably because, that it is a game of the Zephyrs (Baseball team from New Orleans) ,, than it really was aimed against baseball in general.

Invasion of the French

20100814 9826 225x300 Invasion der FranzosenI knew from Valerian in Leipzig, that he would stay at the same time with us for a week in New Orleans. His girlfriend had completed an internship in Canada, which was now over, so the two took a little trip through the states. Of course New Orleans was one for them as French (if we even want to talk in clichés) high on the list.

Since the two only had a French mobile phone, I stood there with my German mobile phone, the deposit amount is slowly but surely coming to an end, and Jason of course has absolutely no mobile phone, raised the agreement one day, a meeting place and time as schwiriger out, than it really should be the case. Finally, we have then done after much back and forth but still the brilliant performance to take the two in New Orleans.

Tchefuncte

A day out in the boat along the Tchefuncte river in Madisonville, Louisiana. Lena got to see some swamp and we went swimming in some of the warmest water you can imagine… Doesn’t she just look at home in that last photo?

Izzy and Red Velvet

20100805 9777 300x225 Izzy and Red VelvetMaking a Red Velvet Cake for Izzy’s birthday party… We had just found a delicious John D. Folse recipe for Red Velvet cake and really wanted to try it out. Izzy’s birthday party was that night so we thought it would be the perfect occasion. We had fun baking the cake and dying it such wonderful colors. Also, photos of Izzy’s house in Abita, and eating the delicious cake… It was so, SO good. I ate about three slices and would have eaten a few more if my stomach could have handled it.

First Day in New Orleans

After we came down from North Carolina to Louisiana, I had to wait a week for the first time in Mandeville, until I finally was shown for the first time New Orleans. We went with Katie, Chris and Tyler. To get from Mandeville to New Orleans, you have only one 20 Minutes drive across the lake. You drive over a bridge, which runs across the lake. Supposedly, the longest bridge in the world, which crosses a lake. This bridge really takes an eternity! First, we are very excited, but after five minutes by car and only water, Water, Water to your left and right, it is terribly boring. I began to hate this bridge really!
