Tyler, After an Attack with the Scissors

Published 19 April 2008

Here’s one final shot from the first roll out of the Pentax- just to prove it actually does take proper photos… Overall, I do like this camera quite a bit. It has the feeling of an (albeit quite heavy) 35mm SLR, but instead shoots wonderfully sharp and detailed medium format 6×4.5cm negs. So far, I’ve only run black and white film through though, though I’d love to get some slide film run through of some landscapes or night work eventually. I do really like the 645 format, second only to the squares at the moment. It just has a good bit better feeling for me over the wide 2×3 format of the 5D that I had grown accustomed to using. Much more zen and balance or something to that effect…

This is Tyler, after my dad had got at him with the scissors (just a haircut mind you!) and he ended up getting a bit butchered. He has shown up before on a few occasions previously... probably more than anyone(thing) else. He’s always a favorite subject of mine, though admittedly it’s tough to be objective in critiquing photos of him as I tend to love them all… curious to hear some outside opinions!

Pentax 645, Kodak Portra BW400CN, Process D-76 Stock.
