Tetons at Sunrise, Snake River Overlook

Published 30 October 2007

Here’s a classic location for you. It should be pretty easy to pick out- especially since I’ve already mentioned where this was taken, but hopefully everyone will recognize this location… It’s one I’d hope every monkey with a camera should know.

This was one of those times when I really was able to be in awe of photography. Seeing how far I have to go, how much I don’t know, and how great were some of those who came before.

This light here was amazing. And yet, I felt really incapable of doing this scene any justice. It’s one that’s been photographed countless times through the ages… some better, and some worse than this one. But for me (or perhaps for everyone past who’s attempted such a shot), this one is all about the moment. This is a memory. Of standing there, fingers freezing… half asleep. Waiting for the light to come. Finger itching for the shutter. But just waiting. Not yet…. No. No. No… Now. Just one shot. Then, the light was gone…

On a side note… I just wanted to thank everyone who has stopped by and said hello. Or just looked. SeekingFocus has come a long way since it began, just over a year go when I posted this shot on October 22, last year (There are also older images postdated in the archives). I’d like to invite everyone to take a moment to check out some things in the past, perhaps take a look at some of the most commented images. And, as always I look forward to hearing from everyone in the future. Thanks.
