![]() Star Drive-In, Monte Vista, ColoradoPublished 5 November 2007 What a beautiful night this was. Driving straight across Colorado in one shot, under a blanket of stars and a full moon. I was passing through the small town of Monte Vista, Colorado at around 1:00am and literally pulled a hard u-turn in the middle of the road when I saw this. I just had to shoot it. And of course I didn’t leave until I had satisfied that need with a couple different cameras. I shot this one shot with the Holga when I first fulled up as I was getting the rest of the gear prepared. Though I took about ten or so shots from different angles and different shutter speeds on the digital, I liked this one the best. The humble plastic lens and grain of the film gave this lone shot a character that none of the 5D’s could match… This would prove to be a very long night for me. I had been waiting nearly the whole trip for the moon to ripen and for the past few nights leading to the full moon there were clouds and some rain. So, I was quite overjoyed with the moon came out that night in all its glory with a few clouds to play along. After leaving this spot, I continued on to the Great Sand Dunes, and photographed until sunrise (photos forthcoming). Holga 120N, Illford HP5 400, exposure was about 30 seconds.
