![]() Sand SnakePublished 22 November 2007 I call this a sand snake. I have no idea what it actually was- the wind in the dunes really cooks up some amazing formations. If one were to stand still for just a couple of seconds, your feet soon become part of the landscape… the wind piles sand on one side, while carving away at the opposite. Then when you move again the sand is quickly pushed on, only to pile up somewhere else… It’s a giant circle. As the winds blow all summer and fall toward the Sangre de Cristos mountains to the east, in the spring all is washed back down into the dune field with the melting of the snow…
