Le Dernier Coucher du Soleil

Published 30 November 2007

Well folks, this is it… yet another sunset.

This image marks the end of the trip, and my (hopefully temporary) hiatus from the web.

I know I have said it countless times before, but I do really want to thank everyone who has ever dropped by to say hello, looked at some images, or who I’ve come into contact with through photography in general over the past few months. Since I started this website a bit over a year ago, I know I have grown and progressed by countless bounds, much thanks to all the input and inspiration I have received through the people I have met. I hope (always) to continue that trend, and that when I pop in again I’ll have some new exciting things to share with everyone!

So, take a moment to subscribe if you haven’t already so you’ll know the next time things are back in action… I may stick something up once in a while so you all don’t forget about me completely… while I’m away, take a moment to check out the archives, or the most commented images. Also, feel free to drop me a line if you’re so inclined. Prints of most images can be ordered through my professional alter ego over at, Reciprocity Images.

THANKS!

-Jason

About this image:
I had driven from central Colorado earlier that morning with about twelve hours ahead of me. I was dead tried, hadn’t bathed in ____ days, and dying to get home to a girl waiting at home. I’m a sucker for sunsets (who isn’t) and I’d been searching for them the whole trip. This one, on the last day, at a non-descript rest area somewhere in West Texas ended up being the most spectacular of the whole trip. After all the open plains and mountain vistas this is where I ended up enjoying a final meal and soaking up the last rays of the sun before pushing the final few hours to a shower and a nice warm bed. But who could have asked for anything more than saltines and tunafish at a moment like this? Often we travel endlessly searching for what we are looking for, only to discover it was in our backyards all along…
