Hot Springs Night

Published 25 April 2007

This is a shot of the old Post Office and General Store in Hot Springs, Texas, taken the night after the last shot. I got a lot of comments on the last image noting that it was a bit too bright to really have the feel of a night shot, and this one perhaps suffers from the same flaw. Hope you like it all the same…

Hot Springs was first settled by homesteaders in 1909 when J.O. Langford came here with his family. He had contracted malaria, and apparently after soaking in the Springs’ healing waters he was miraculously cured. He opened the springs to the public and built the post office and nearby hotel to attract more visitors.

EDIT: Forgot to add some info for this shot: 94 second exposure @ f/4.0

Also, I’ve been sick over the last few days, and have been trying to catch up with everyone who’s been commenting… If I haven’t gotten back with you I do appreciate the comments, and hope you keep coming back!
