Hay Bales

Published 5 October 2007

Well, moving right along… day 5 of the trip now. Still in Montana. On my way north to Glacier National Park at this point.

This is a Holga shot of these great hay bales. I think I took about ten shots of these things with five or six different cameras. I’m not sure what it was about them, but the late afternoon light was hitting just right and they seemed simply beautiful. I guess I felt a little of what Monet saw when he painted his Haystacks… If only I could have sat here for a few days photographing them in all manner of light!

I hope everyone is enjoying this series thus far. I am trying very hard to do this trip some sort of photographic justice! It’s quite hard though, only selecting one or two photos from each day of the journey, but I am determined to stay focused and bring you more or less a photo a day until it’s all over.

Holga 120N, Illford HP5 Plus. Scanned Negative.
