Grand Canyon Skyscape

Published 8 April 2007

So… It’s been pretty quiet over here once again. (I know, I know… so many empty promises about all the great photos forthcoming.) I’ve been away traveling again, and haven’t felt the need to get close enough to a Starbucks to steal some Internet access. Rest assured, I’ll try and be a little more regular with posting some photos in the next few days, so if there’s anyone out there still listening hang in there! And keep up all the feedback (good or bad). It definitely gives me a reason to keep up with the site a bit better.

Okay. About this shot:

This was taken at the Grand Canyon, on the south rim toward the end of February. I was really disappointed with my visit to the Grand Canyon after spending weeks alone in real wilderness. It was completely jam packed with tourists, even so early this spring, which was quite a shock to find myself lost in such a mess. Also, I had planned a hike to the bottom of the canyon which was thwarted by some unseasonably cold weather and an approaching snow storm.

I spent only a few hours wandering around the canyon, trying to find some sort of seclusion amoung the masses. Due to the completely uncooperative weather conditions, this shot was one of only four frames I shot off that day. The clouds broke only for a few seconds lighting the lower canyon along the river, just long enough to set the camera and hit the shutter before all was dark again…

UPDATE: Comments are now fixed… Sorry if anyone was trying to leave a comment and could not. All should be working now! Thanks.
