Back in Business

Published 27 September 2007

Well everyone, I’m back after a bit of an absence. It was a much needed one though, and I’m quite happy to say that I’m feeling much better- quite refreshed and inspired, just as anticipated!

It was really a pretty amazing time- 9 states, 7 national parks, about 7,600 miles driven, logged over 120 hours in the pilot seat, and hiked about 90 miles over the course of 18 days. It was admittedly a bit of a blur, but that’s how I like it. Of course, I took along about a dozen cameras (well actually only seven) so there’s tons of work to sift through. And, I’m proud to report that I took roughly as many film shots as digital this time- quite a lot of each, too… waiting to get it all back from the lab to get to work!

So, here’s a shot from Day 1. The first shot of the whole trip actually… And, this one’s for Juli – Taken somewhere outside of Wichita, KS at dusk; Spotmetering, heavy under exposure and, some luck to keep all the birds from flying away… 1/80 @ f/5.6, ISO 200.

I’m hoping to get into regular posting again, perhaps even daily, but you know not to count on it, right? I’m going to try and formulate some sort of semi-cohesive series of the shots from the trip- in roughly chronological order, so stay tuned.

Can’t wait to hear from everyone again and catch up on everything, though forgive me if it takes a few days to get back in the swing of things again- I’ve only been home one day and already I find myself still awake, busy as hell, at 3:46 in the morning.

So it goes.
