A Sled and Some Memories

Published 15 April 2008

Is it just me, or have photoblogs run their course and gotten pretty stale? It’s rather infrequently these days I have time to browse what’s happening across the web, but it sure doesn’t seem like much. Many of the blogs I once frequented have fizzled out, and many of the ones that remain seem to just be trudging on rather than being a fresh venue to share work. I know I took quite a break recently and it did me a lot of good… most of the time I have to really wonder why I still post here, but sometimes I do feel the need to share certain pieces. It’s nice to get feedback for sure, but even that has dried up a bit lately… I’m not complaining, just thinking. Honestly, I’d redesign the site if I had the time, but I don’t. So for now, I suppose SeekingFocus lives on.

Anyway… back where I left off. January. Just after Christmas. Which seems at once so long ago and yet feels like no time at all has really passed. Time is a strange creature. But that’s a whole other conversation.

This is a simple shot. Light, shadow, texture. But for me, there’s a lot of memories in a simple object like this. Splinters, snow falls, christmas presents, old friends I’ll never see again… But here all those memories are transformed into light. Late afternoon light, and a camera that had been neglected for a few days. I had the itch… I needed to take a photo. And this is what I found.
