Decathlon du Vignaud |
And now (drumroll) the moment you've all been waiting for since you're probably tired of reading about roofing by now... the TILES! God, it was a long road getting to this point. One final tedious job was to cut all the partial tiles as I went down... I had to buy a wet tile cutter, but since there is no electricity at Le Vignaud, I had to bring tiles to the other house in Bonnat to cut the tiles, then bring them back and put them up on the roof. Also, I had to mortar along the edge of the roof as I went down to make a seal against the wall. I could only mortar three rows of tiles at a time, so the last 50 or so tiles went up very slowly. It took four more days just to finish the small remaining area. Lastly, trim the chevrons, and it was done. Finally. Five weeks later. I never thought it would take so long and be such a monumental undertaking, but I can finally stop thinking about it... (At least until it's time to start the next section.) It wouldn't have been possible without A LOT of help from quite a few people... Thank you. One last before and after: Next up... Any volunteers? |
